In People Magazine, Redbook and Health Magazine September 2008 Issues. Many have called and emailed about finding my picture in the publications.
I became Connie Simpson's essay subject for Kraft Foods "100 Extraordinary Women" search. Connie is the illustrator for Danica's book "Blood & Honey: Women's Wisdom amid Catastrophic Violence"- due to be out by the end of the year.
In 2001, The Kolo: Women's Cross Cultural Collaboration was founded to deal with the intergenerational trauma in Bosnia and globally in violence zones. By providing a circle (kolo in Serbo-Croatian) for the women-who are the major caregivers- trauma and self-sustainable living is not a pipe dream becoming a living reality.
The feminization of poverty and women as victims of violence globally is disempowering and allows for intergenerational trauma and poverty.
Take a moment to look at the website and their beautiful and inspiring faces. Each of these women in the kolo have been empowered to improve their family's standard of living and provide what every mother wants for her children- harmony and self-sustainability.
I faced such overwhelm by the magnitude of violence, war crimes and poverty accompained by suffering with my 10 years of work in Bosnia, Africa and Sri Lanka. The women and children are the invisible ones- the ones most erased.
The Kolo:WCCC is funded by your generosity.
One donation of $25.00 helps one family at a time...you can make a difference. Our website has PayPal available so that your contribution can be felt immediately to the women and children.
Please take your time to review the website- www.kolocollaboration.org -- make commentary and your contribution.
Your contribution is not a hand out or a "Wall Street Bail Out"--- it is a hand up to these women.
The Women of Wisdom organization Seattle WA conference in Feb. 2009 has me and the Kolo work appearing on February 14, 2009, 9 AM-12 PM... check out their website and register for the event.
