The canal boats are decorated and named after a female. Only a decade or so previous the decorations were all flowers and plants done lovingly by male hands and hearts. Today, the paint and plastic flowers take the place of ardous handwork at the same time of the femicide of Mexico's females continues. Children witness the brutal deaths of their mothers, aunts and sisters. Juarez mass murders are still unsolved. Criminals are not brought to justice- the women are outgunned and not in the ranks of police or judicial systems.
