Note how the artist is moved to the same knowing with the letters of the trees as its alphabet, Connie Simpson combines the extensive use of the iconic, indexical interpretations with symbolic references into a deck of cards that guides the way we link one thing or sentient being to another. What is interesting to note is that the water birds such as geese, cranes, swans and even loons are found in the Upper Paleolithic art in bone carving and cave drawings. In South Slavic mythological stories, the duck and goose predominate as either water nymphs doing the sacred work of domestic tasks with weaving, spining or working the land as the main portal to have the Goddess honored across vast geographical distances and diverse tribes. For instance, similar vases have been found in Malia Crete, Aegean islands to Anatolian Neolithic and Dibel (near Bitolj) in former southern Yugoslavia.
