Dr. Danica Anderson, Dept of Defense social scientist was based at the forward operating base Torkham located on the border of Afghanistan and Pakistan. Around 5 AM Dr. Anderson was thrown from her bunk after the explosion of a truck parked about 500 meters from her barracks. Suicide attackers battled for over 5 hours. No casualties for those on the base.
